OK, let's have some fun. Since the girls didn't buckle and run like little bitches to claim the temptations, we won this challenge without having to finish.
But, being the Women's tribe that we are, we finished our mask anyway! So, for Production (and whomever else), here is our Tibitan Goddess and her story.
The Power of Eight: The Women of Palpung
Tibet is a culture rich in history and built on strength, traditions and symbolism.
The women of Tibet, like the women of Palpung, embody those characteristics. Our mask tells that story.
Behind the mask is who we are. Our past, represented by the yellow of Ganden, the blue of Dontok and the red of Palpung and how the past has blended to become the dominant and powerful red of of the present Palpung women's tribe. Eight women that came in separated by their past, but have come together to become the present. The roughness of the background is a display of the many dimensions of our tribe. We are not a flat surface. We have peaks and valleys in our past, rough patches in our present, and the ability to bring it all together for our future.
In Tibetan cultural history, the red mask is the hero. It is the face of bravery, intelligence and the unique ability to use strategy to conquer. This face, this red mask, is the warrior face of the Palpung women.
The eyes are the windows to our soul. While kind and caring, the eyes are a look into the souls of each of our women and what we see, together, as one. The third eye represents the awakening of knowledge and wisdom in the face of adversity. Above the eyes are the golden dragons, symbolic of the communication between tribe members and the positive influence that each of our women bring to each other.
The lips and mouth of the mask are a symbol of our voices, the eight voices that speak as one when needed. And yet, speak as individuals to stand up and be heard in the face of adversity. No voice is stronger than another and no voice goes unheard.
When the golden earrings shimmer around the face of this mask, the display is the beauty of each woman that has come together. Each of the women of Palpung bring an outer and inner beauty to our tribe that glows and reflects, like the gold of the earrings.
Worn with pride, the necklace of eight skulls is to honor our past and reflect on those that have gone before us. Eight people have left our tribes. Eight remain on each tribe. We learn from those eight departed souls to form our future. The pendant of the necklace, displaying the iSurv1vor logo, displays this game that has brought us together in a game we love.
The crown of our Goddess Mask is representative of the 8 powerful jewels of the Palpung tribe. These are the birthstones of each tribe member and are a shimmering symbol of our existence. The birthstones are intertwined with 24 diamonds, showing the original 24 that were cast...each a shining diamond.
Kay is the embodiment of the September deep blue sapphire, which represents kindness and wise judgement.
The three opals are the October birthstones of Tanya, Desiree and Lilly. The opal, with it's depth and dimensions of beauty, represent inspiration, imagination and creativity.
December's light blue topaz is the birthstone for Kim and Tierra. The blue topaz symbolizes the gentle spirit of love and affection.
The glowing emeralds of May, the stones for Ginny and Martyna, is a display of sensitivity and loyalty.
Individually, these stones are a thing of beauty, sitting high on the head of our Goddess.
And yet, together, the stones are much more. They are kindess and strength. Wisdom, sensitivity and loyalty. Love, affection, inspiration, creativity.
This is the beauty and the strenth of the women of Palpung. Eight strong.
